Kee Change: Logline, Synopsis and ScreenPlay excerpts.
Logline:
Kee intends to change the world, but fear locks him inside his classroom until a world-wide cataclysm forces those who remain to step-up – even a terminally-ill teacher, like Kee.
Synopsis:
Outwardly, Kee is staggeringly bright. Inwardly, he is deeply-flawed, but loving and capable. And, though he signed up to change the world, it’s too big, out of control, and just too much. So he hides away, insulated by his illusions, and tries to pass off the responsibility to Ford and Jerry. They’re his best students, but they’re just as flawed, and not nearly sophisticated enough.
Compounding matters, brain cancer’s killing Kee. Yet, no one knows. As he undergoes gamma knife surgery, a catastrophic event kills almost every living thing. Kee heavily sedated and protected by the shielding walls of the Gamma Knife operating theatre, survives unscathed.
Kee regains consciousness to find a dead hospital. Dehydrated, and dangerously close to death, three badly irradiated survivors from Flint, find him. Quickly, they illustrate the impending arrival of a malevolent horde of morally dispossessed humans. Barely escaping a bloody exchange with this horde, the group makes their way to the fallout shelter below the hospital. While no one knows the cause, Kee learns everyone he loved is dead. He also learns the two surviving researchers and Caoillion [pronounced: Shaolin], have a tense and messy history. Despite the world being all but dead, their wounds remain alive. Finally, the numbers of people alive now make the task of impacting change seem manageable. Kee finally decides to act. He and Caoillion embark on a violent journey that will embrace his fear and change everything.
